Brother Knight is a native of Savannah, and the third of five children born to Mrs. Odness and the late Mr. Cleve Knight.

He is a graduate of A. E. Beach High School, Class of 1967 and is the immediate Past President of their Alumni Class. He is a Vietnam War Army veteran. He is also a member of the NAACP.

He was an employee of the Georgia Pacific Hardwood Plant for 27 years. He is currently employed at Imperial Sugar (Dixie Crystals) in Port Wentworth.

He is a member of Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church and serves with the Hospitality Ministry.

Brother Knight became a Master Mason of Eureka Lodge #1 in 1978 and has earned the 32nd degree. He was Worshipful Master in 1999 and 2000. He is also a member of Ezra Consistory #27. He served as Worthy Patron of Electa Chapter #1 from 1995 to 2007. He was also District Worthy Patron and Grand Trustee. He resigned those duties when he was named as the Grand Associate Patron in 2007. In June 2008 he accepted the position of Grand Worthy Patron.

He is married to the former Pauline Ganzie and is the father of 3 daughters Charlotta, Marvina and Zelphia. He is also the grandfather of 6.
